Gin Margarita

After this crazy week in the news I need a drink or ten...

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 ounces gin

1 ounce Cointreau (orange liqueur)

3/4 ounce freshly-squeezed lime juice

optional: agave nectar or simple syrup

for serving: lime wedge, coarse salt, ice

*sometimes I use lemon or orange juice too.

INSTRUCTIONS: If you would like salt-rimmed glasses, begin by running a lime slice (the juicy part) around the top rim of a glass. Fill a shallow bowl with salt, and dip the rim in the salt until it is covered with your desired amount of salt. Set aside.

Add gin, lime juice and Cointreau to a cocktail shaker, and shake or stir until combined. Taste, and if you would like it to be sweeter, stir in a half teaspoon of agave or simple syrup at a time, until the mix reaches your desired level of sweetness.

Fill glass with ice. Pour in the margarita mixture over the rocks. Serve immediately, garnished with an extra lime wedge if desired.

Hey there, welcome to my little slice of the internet! A little about me to let you get to know me better.

I come from a family of farmers and my grandfather was also a market farmer way back in the day. My grandmother raised 12 children on the family farm and had a green thumb a mile long. She was a queen of preserving food and man could she make a mean sweet cornbread. I still miss her everyday.

I  am also a retired personal trainer and nutritionist, but don’t worry—I promise not to count your calories (unless it’s pizza, then all bets are off). When I'm not whipping up healthy meals, you'll find me in the garden playing plant parent or out on an adventure, probably getting lost on purpose. Join me for some laughs and tips on how to live your best life and grow the best plants and preserve your efforts without taking things too seriously!
